The Sooners are leaving for the Southeastern Conference and the Big XII Conference (as we know it) is disappearing like Marty McFly in that crinkled 4×6 picture he carried in front pocket (Back To The Future RULES). This week YAY DUDE is going to look at a Big XII Championship Game. As usual, we’ll try to take a look ahead, too at Oklahoma State vs. Baylor Bears at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Dec. 4th at 11 a.m.
THE PAST
December 1, 2018
Every year in October, thousands upon thousands of Sooners and Longhorns make the trip to the Texas State Fair to OU vs Texas in the historic Cotton Bowl; however, 2018 would mark the first time since 1903 that these historic programs met twice in the same season. Kyler Murray led the Sooners to a 39-27 win that night avenging an earlier October loss in the Cotton Bowl where Longhorn QB Sam Ehlinger allegedly told Kyler to “Take that L, B@#*%”. Kyler responded by going 25/34 for 379 yards and 3 TDs while CeeDee Lamb led the Sooners in receiving with 6 receptions and 167 yards and a TD. Trey Sermon rounded out the Sooner offense with 65 yards on the ground. One of the more memorable moments in the game was a late one-handed TD rom Sooner TE Grant Calcaterra.

THE FUTURE
The year’s Big 12 Championship game has, what some may consider, two surprises: 1. The Sooners did not make the game for the first time since 2010. 2. Oklahoma State did make the Championship game for the first time. (There was not a Big 12 Championship Game in 2011.) Oklahoma State will take on Dave Aranda and Baylor Bears. If Oklahoma State wins, most say the Cowboys will be in the College Football Playoff for the first time. Could this be the year? Christian Holmes (DB) and the Cowboys think so. I hope so, too!
