GOLD, BABY! Yay U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball team and Jeremy Campbell for bringing home gold! We love a good celebration and we’d love for you to join us FriYay to meet the athletes and say congrats in person!
The University of Central Oklahoma, in collaboration with the City of Edmond and USA Volleyball, will host an event to celebrate Team USA’s success at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at the Edmond Railyard, 23 W. First St. in Edmond.
The event will recognize the achievements of Edmond’s coaches and athletes, including UCO-trained, resident athlete Jeremy Campbell and the U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball team who brought home gold medals for Team USA at their respective championship events at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
“We are excited to get to honor the athletes and coaches at this celebration and we welcome the community to join us in congratulating our local members of Team USA,” said Katrina Shaklee, AVP of Wellness and Sport.
“As one of the only 11 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Sites in the country, we are proud of our relationship with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee. As a training site, UCO has a unique opportunity to get to see these elite athletes train each and every day to prepare for the Paralympic Games.”
Central is the host training site for Men’s and Women’s Sitting Volleyball and USA Taekwondo. Currently, Central hosts athletes in the Paralympic sports of sitting volleyball, field and taekwondo.
The event is free and open to the community. For more information, contact Leigha Pemberton, assistant director of partnerships and events for the UCO Wellness Center at Central, at 405-974-3160 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
