Birrieria Diaz | Bethany

I, Malena Putnam, our chief storyteller and founder here at Yay Dude and Shay Wood, owner, Wood Insurance Agency, located in Bethany, can both vouch for the authentic mom & pop Mexican restaurant located in downtown Bethany. If you love homemade guac, hit it up with a nice salt rim beer before your main entree. Big menu, authentic Mexican options, fast service.

Alfredo’s | Yukon, Moore, Edmond

Alfredo’s has grown into four locations for a reason. It’s damn good Mexican food with an Italian-sounding name. Years ago I made sure to stop in there when I visited my client SWOSU in Weatherford, OK. Then I heard they’d expanded into the city (Yukon and Moore), and then finally it was in my neck of the woods in Edmond, so it’s been a staple of my family’s ever since. The enchilada plate is my favorite, but the quesadillas and street tacos are a close second.

Green Chile Kitchen | Yukon

A hit on Route 66: Green Chile Kitchen. The first time I tried Green Chile was about 8 years ago and they had me from the first bite of queso. With a unique Tex-Mex modern menu like great stews, smothered burritos and taco salads, I recommend trying something different every time. Try their lunch menu from 11a to 2p, too.

Revolucion | Midtown OKC

Modernized Mexican & Tex Mex classics with a very cool vibe (with a literal neon sign that says “Don’t kill my vibe” and a really, really good margarita are in store at Revolucion. As in, come for the margaritas, and stay for the fish tacos and queso fundido. Trust me.

Barrios | Midtown OKC

You can’t beat the patio at Barrios Fine Mexican Dishes. Or the Carne Molida Taco. Or the Braised Rib Enchiladas. Their cocktails have a nice spin on the classics, too, so order one and treat your taste buds.
