The Sooners are leaving for the Southeastern Conference and the Big XII Conference (as we know it) is disappearing like Marty McFly in that crinkled 4×6 picture he carried in front pocket (Back To The Future RULES).  Each week of the conference season, Yay Dude is going to look at some of the best and most exciting Big XII games for OU and OSU.  Plus, we’ll take a peek into the future, too. As of this writing, the College Football Playoff Committee has OU ranked #8 while OSU is ranked #11.

This week’s opponent: West Virginia

THE PAST

October 10, 2015

The Cowboys rolled into town 5-0 and 2-0 in conference.  Backup QB, J.W. Walsh scored on a 2 yard run in overtime to keep the Pokes undefeated to that point in the season.  Starting QB, Mason Rudolph outdueled WVU’s Will Grier and finished the day 20-34 for just 216 yards.  However, Rudolph was national leader in passing yards at that time.  Freshman RB J.D. King (Blast from the Past alert!) ran for a game high 142 yard on a whopping 36 carries with 2 TDs.

THE FUTURE

Everybody loves a blowout. The Pokes jumped out quick and held a 38-0 halftime lead over the Jayhawks finishing with a 55-3 victory. This week the defensive competition should step up significantly.   The Mountaineers have the fourth ranked defense in the conference with a good run defense.  The Cowboys really have found their stride running the ball?  How will they stack up offensively?  Defensively, veterans like Malcolm Rodriguez and youngsters like Collin Ollver are bringin’ it.
